Established since 2005, the Liberia Media Center is a joint initiative of the Liberia media community led by the Press Union of Liberia (PUL) and the Partnership for Media and Conflict Prevention in West Africa. It was conceived to address access to collective resources and professionalization of the country's media sector.
We are an independent and legally registered not-for-profit media organization that fosters development of the local media through the utilization of communication and informations sources. LMC exists also to assist media and civil society with professional services in a wide range of areas including research, training, outreach and mass communication.
Currently, we provide a forum for the periodic assessment of media coverage of significant national and international events, multi media facilities, capacity building programs for civil society and journalists, and renders professional services to media and civil society groups.
LMC carries out its activities in accordance with the following goals:
To provide Liberia journalists and media practitioners access to working resources and facilities;
To facilitate the professional growth of Liberian journalists and media practitioners;
To support the participation of Liberia media and journalists in regional and international trainings and other activities, strengthening their professional capacity and ethical values;
To develop links between Liberia, regional and international media professionals;
To support the development of journalism education in Liberia, as well as to provide national coordination for internationally funded activities as and when requested and opportune to do so.
